Tony Blair says al-Qaida was in Iraq

British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s office says al-Qaida agents worked in Iraq while Saddam was in power.

A Blair spokeswoman says even though there was no direct link, Saddam provided a “permissive environment for terrorism,” and that “people affiliated to al-Qaida operated in Iraq.”
